Well we have finally picked a new date for this trip and we are only a week away! As many of you know it has been a very wet spring. While this is great for the local lakes and rivers too much can be bad. If you check out the NOAA site below you can see how last week the Brazos was running just below the flood stage. Good news is that it has slowed down and is at a great level right now. I will watch the weather, rainfall amounts and river data very close this week to make sure we don't get stuck on the river in those kind of conditions. Below you will find more information about the trip.

• Best time to go: Early spring / fall
• Water flow: Depends on local rainfall and some release from dam
• Hazards: Low water and strong headwinds
• Camping: River banks
• USGS Gauge: Plao Pinto (optimal flow 500cfs minimum flow 200cfs)

We have decided to make this a 3 day 2 night trip. The plan for now is to meet at CJ Young's (940-325-6052) Friday morning early. I will call to check times and costs for leaving cars here.

We will spend 2 nights on the river camping on the banks for sand bars and play it by ear on daily distance to make for the best trip possible.

For take out we plan on 1189 near Dennis, TX. There is a small private camp right next to 1189 and I will try locate a phone number for them. If no luck one of the groups from Waco will need to leave one car in Dennis. Looks like worst case there is a post office we might be able to park at and would be less than 1 miles hike to reach from the river.

Canoe and Car Arrangements
Canoe 1 - Stefan and Brad - one car from Plano
Canoe2 - Samir and Reece - one car from Waco
Kayak 1 - Michael - one car from Austin

The Austin and Waco cars need to meet in Dennis and leave one car and then meet at CJ Young's asap.

I know everyone is getting excited about this trip. I am especially excited because I have some new gear that is going to be put to the test so check back after the trip for updates and reviews on some of these products. lets all keep our fingers crossed for good weather so we can have a great trip!
